Meet the Intern in Charge of Social Media!
Here’s another member of our big happy family that’s always on the go. What’s new Emma? Born in Germany, Emma lived in England, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Chicago before she arrived in Boston for school. Like Luke and Noel, she attends Boston University. Or to be more accurate, she just graduated!!! Emma has another 6 months here, but she’s hoping to extend her stay past that and live in our lovely big city for much longer. Especially since the clam chowder and lobster rolls are great! They’re two must-have dishes that Emma always orders whenever she’s at a good Boston restaurant. Italian food is also a favorite of hers.

Italian food is also a favorite of hers.
When Emma isn’t watching movies and making music, she’s playing with her new kitten. As a first time owner, every day brings something new for Emma to learn about feline care. Her kitten was a surprising addition to her apartment, especially since she had previously believed that she was more of a dog person. But cats seem to be easier to take care of at the moment, especially compared to the bunnies her roommates have. Her kitten is certainly more entertaining, even though she’s growing up much faster than Emma expected. Once a tiny domestic short-hair with black and white spots, the kitten is more of a cat at this point. Something that Emma bemoans with her college friends.
For many college seniors, this year had its disappointments, particularly when it came to canceled or delayed graduations. While Emma was bummed that she couldn’t walk across a stage or enjoy Senior Week, she considers herself lucky for at least having the chance to say goodbye to her friends. Many of them are born and bred Boston girls so she is still able to see them and meet up, socially distanced, once a week. And graduation, regardless of its format, is a big achievement and something Emma wouldn’t take back.
In fact, Emma has been doing her best to look at the silver lining. Since going virtual in March, she has been doing everything she could to set herself up for the best career possible. No longer concerned about physically traveling to classes on campus, Emma has used the spare time to take additional courses, such as those offered by HubSpot.
IgnitePost has also been a great help for her goals! As a marketing and growth intern, Emma produces a lot of content and handles social media for the company. In fact, her newest project is to revamp and rethink IgnitePost’s social media strategy. She is aiming to get the company’s engagement rate up, increase interactions with prospective customers, and get on the “map” by finding podcasts the company can participate in. Emma graduated with a degree in advertising so her background is more creative. In her classes, she did a lot of copywriting and graphic design, but most of her previous internships were around digital marketing and digital strategy. Working at a start-up like IgnitePost is a big change from her since it feels like a full-time job. Emma is happy that she has been given a good amount of responsibilities. As she puts it: “I feel like a grown-up.”
Emma especially enjoys the start-up environment of IgnitePost. She has free reign to do what she thinks is best, and Arian, our talented CEO, allows her to do a lot, creatively. At previous internships, while her opinions were never rejected, business standards and practices resulted in limitations whereas, with IgnitePost, everyone is open to new ideas and can remain flexible. It’s a place that encourages rapid growth and collaboration. In fact, as Emma rethinks the company’s marketing strategy, she’s experimenting with various options freely. She’s looking at how potential customers interact with different posts and is embracing the trial and error method. Showing that true entrepreneurial, innovative spirit!
